The fast fired wood kiln was built at Broadwood Hall three years ago by Andrew Pentland from Newcastle College and Steph Jamieson
with help from Ron Jamieson and another ceramicist Lorraine Clay.
The kiln has a capacity of 40 cu ft so has ample space for large scale work, it can be fired over a twelve hour period and uses surprisingly little wood. Since building the kiln it has been fired regularly by a group of six ceramic artists who now exhibit their wood fired work together at galleries and festivals.
